From the Cearley Family 2005

Family News:

We had to put our 14 yr-old cocker spaniel Chelsea to sleep in April.  We were VERY sad.  However, we added 2 new cocker puppies in August.  They are sisters, Nestle (the chocolate one) and Layla (the black & tan one – Yes, we chose her name from the Eric Clapton song!).

We continued camping with another trip to Disney World in the Spring

and a 16-day mega-camping trip this Summer to the Dayton Air Show, Niagara Falls, Toronto, New York City, and Washington D.C.

Toronto, Canada

We also had season passes to Busch Gardens this year and took the opportunity to camp often in Williamsburg.

Caroline News:

She is 7 years old and in 2nd grade at Cary Christian School.   She plays Basketball, Soccer, and Piano.  She is also very interested in Dance and Drama. She and Carlene have continued visiting Tea Rooms around the U.S. Their scrapbook is growing.  She is also still doing Indian Princesses with Greg.  They have enjoyed their outings (except when camping in 30 degree weather!)  She lost her two front teeth over the summer and instantly developed an adorable lisp!  A couple of highlights of her year were going to American Girl Place in NYC and taking a carriage ride through Central Park!

Chandler News:

He turned 10 years old on the 4th of July at Niagara Falls, a special request of his.  He is in 4th grade at Cary Christian School where is he studying Latin and is on the Honor Roll.  A big milestone for him this year was Mowing the Lawn.  He continues to play Basketball and Baseball and has also taken up Guitar this year.  He excels at Art and Inventing and Creative Writing.  He and Greg have had great adventures this year in Trail Blazers (whitewater rafting, rock climbing, etc.)  He and Carlene especially enjoyed themselves in NYC this summer, one of their all-time favorite places to be!

Greg News:

Greg recently celebrated his 10th year with GlaxoSmithKline.  He still enjoys working from home most of the time.  He just finished up Softball season on our church league where he was the catcher, making it unscathed through the season without the aid of protective gear!  There is much “less” of him than there was a year ago.   (He’s lost 45 lbs!)  He is also sporting facial hair now and looks like a new man!  He continues to do Trail Blazers with Chandler and Indian Princesses with Caroline.  (I’m not sure who enjoys the weekend camping trips more!)  He is also still a member of the local Gun Club and is planning some “City Slicker”-type adventures for the coming year: A horseback Elk hunt in Montana, and a pheasant hunt in South Dakota. Crazy. He has really enjoyed “Carlene’s” new motorcycle and even drove it to Chesapeake on a spontaneous road trip!  He continues to spoil her with extravagent Christmas presents.

Carlene News:

Carlene received a surprise New Car for Christmas this year (a 2006 Ford Escape)!  Last year she got a New Motorcycle which both she and Greg have really enjoyed riding this year.  She continues as a part-time 5th Grade Assistant at Cary Christian School where she enjoys being on-site with Chandler and Caroline.  She has also kept up with her Acting this year.  She did a play, and one of her movies was on TV.  She has a new movie coming out very soon, and she is starting with a new agent in January.  She even got to audition for Coke and Old Navy.  However, her favorite Acting Activity this year was taking a 6-week Scene Study Class with famed producer/director Andy Lane. She is looking forward to her 20th High School Reunion in July 2006.

As always, her number one (and favorite) job is wife and mother!

Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year, remembering always that Jesus is the Reason we celebrate.
